St. Louis joins the nation to celebrate National Dance Week from April 25 - May 4, 2008. National Dance Week captures everyone's secret desire to be a great dancer. When dance innovators Capezio and Dance Magazine launched the grass-roots event several years ago to bring dance to America's doorstep, St. Louis signed on as a staunch supporter. On April 26, the St. Louis Dance Community struts its spirited stuff with performances by professional, university and dance studio companies. The public is invited, free of charge, to view ballet, jazz, tap and modern disciplines, as well as folk and drill teams. There will be a guest performance by National Dance Week honorary dance company Afriky Lolo . National Dance Week gues Miss Missouri 2007, Lindsay Casmaer, shares the local spotlight with Master of Ceremonies Brad L. Graham of The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, guest appearances by Michael Uthoff, Dance St. Louis. With the mission to heighten awareness of dance and its cultural contributions, National Dance Week has achieved congressional support through the aid of the United Dance Merchants of America. St. Louis sponsors Weissman's Dance Solutions, Kyvon,, Kristi Foster Photography, MAK Printing, CAM Printing, and Audioactive Projects Corporation join patrons Union Station, Edison Theatre and Dr. Bill Russell to present the annual extravaganza. |
