National Dance Week Celebration St. Louis Union Station Saturday, April 24, 2010 FREE Viva Flamenco! 2010 Honorary Dance Company
Viva Flamenco! music and dance company began in 1995 as a collaborative effort between guitarist Ronald Radford and dancer Kristina Martinez. The group brought the rhythm and beauty of Spain to the Midwest. While the two would perform as a duo for several years, the company would gradually expand and welcome new artists as well. Ms. Martinez invited guitarist Bill “El Chuquel” Jones to perform. This partnership would last eight years, ending with the guitarists’ untimely passing in June of 2009. Also joining the Viva Flamenco! family was dancer Octavio Nieto, a veteran of both the ballet and flamenco stage. Viva Flamenco! a constantly evolving group, anchored by Kristina Martinez and Ronald Radford, continue to present numerous performances each year. While the company frequently makes new collaborative additions, it continues to energize audiences, young and old, with the stirring sounds of Spain.
